Prominent Navajo silversmith, Stanley Manygoats, famous multi-stone inlay sterling silver dangle earrings. Stones include Turquoise, lapis, malachite, coral, mother of pearl, onyx and sugalite inlaid amidst slivers of sterling silver for a sparkling art deco geometric style. Measuring appx 1.5″ t x 1/2″w; 7g. Provenance in short: Acquired from the Louisville, KY estate of Mary Perry. Mary’s love of the Native American peoples was cemented during her first teaching job at the Pine Ridge Oglala and Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, after she received her Doctorate of Education from the University of Utah. Mary was a renowned advocate of women’s rights and education access, serving on the National Board of Directors for the American Association of University Women whom she represented at the NGO Forum/ International Women’s Conference in Beijing and at the Women in Business Initiative Conference in Moscow. Later in life she turned her love of animals into a new career opening The Pet School and Hotel in Louisville KY, breeding champion Westies, and founding Mount Olympus Aviaries where she bred and cared for exotic birds. Ultimately known as “The Bird Lady”, she had a profound connection to the animals in her care, as well as the wild ones that visited her property daily.
