Alvin Yellowhorse Multi-Stone Inlay Sterling Silver Navajo Cuff Bracelet
Navajo silversmith and artist Alvin Yellowhorse multi-precious stone channel inlay cuff bracelet. This cuff is in good previously owned vintage condition with a nice aged patina to the silver. This tarnishing can be removed with a gentle polishing to bring out a bright finish if so desired. The original price also shows lightly on the inner side of the cuff which might disappear with polishing as well. I do not clean any silver pieces since many people prefer the natural patina. Cuff measures 1 1/4″ wide and fits a wrist of 6 1/4″ and smaller. The gap in the cuff is 1 wide. Total weight of this bracelet is 82 grams. Signed by artist at the inner side of the cuff. This work by Alvin Yellowhorse exemplifies this artists talent in precision cutting of fine gemstones. Please view all photos and ask any questions you may have. At an early age Alvin was taught silversmithing by his father Frank Yellowhorse. He later mastered this trade and the techniques of precisely cutting small colorful stones and creating intricate designs inspired by his Anasazi ancestors. Channel inlay is done by assembling the cut stones together, grinding the stones flush and then polishing. Alvin has achieved recognition being awarded numerous times for his work and featured with his brother in an article on turquoise in the 1999 edition of Smithsonian Magazine.
