WONDERFUL antique/vintage Santo Domingo and southwestern artisan sterling silver turquoise, spiny oyster, pen shell, mother of pearl, catlinite, plastics, etc. Beaded battery bird, thunderbird necklace. This delightful necklace is 18 5/8 long and weighs 75.8 grams. It features a very old 1930’s to 1940’s authentic Santo Domingo hand crafted sterling silver, turquoise, catlinite, battery parts/plastics, etc. Thunderbird pendant that measures 3 3/8″ long by 1 3/4″ wide. This “battery” bird/thunderbird is in very good condition with no damage other than, perhaps, very minor, age appropriate surface wear. It is a uniquely large example of these wonderful Santo Domingo thunderbirds and is very striking with the black, bright orange, turquoise and red catlinite sections that make up this fabulous pendant. The necklace portion was recently crafted specifically for this bird and is strung on strong jeweler’s flex wire with genuine turquoise, deep red, orange and purple spiny oyster, golden-white, lustrous mother of pearl, large pen shell and Native American sterling silver corrugated bench beads. It is finished with a lovely, oxidized sterling silver floral and feather hook and eye clasp. The necklace was crafted in Santo Domingo style with large, fine heishi beads. It makes for a uniquely striking necklace featuring a very collectible, authentic Santo Domingo crafted battery bird. This necklace is MUCH more lovely in reality than it appears in my photos. The hand-crafted wire bail on the pendant has been tested as sterling silver, as have the bench beads and clasp. The gemstone beads have been verified by a certified gemologist. This listing features a very old and rare Navajo crafted pendant, made from sterling silver and turquoise. This pendant features a deeply stamped peyote bird design along with a single flush set turquoise stone in the center. A large bail is soldered to the top while the bottom features a long dangling cone with 5 short petal tips. It’s a very unique piece and looks amazing when worn around the neck. The pendant is well made, sturdy, and in wonderful condition for its age. There is no signature or sterling stamp however, the silver has been tested and proves to be sterling. This Navajo crafted pendant is a great example of Native American culture. It will last for years to come and be handed down for generations….. Cherish and enjoy this unique piece before handing it down to a loved one in the future. NOTE: Silver chain in last photo is not included with this listing. It is shown for modeling purposes only. Weight – 11 Grams. Length – From the top of the bail to the bottom of the dangling cone the entire pendant measures 4 long. The peyote bird portion(not including the bale) measures 1-3/8″ long by just under 1″ wide. The dangling cone measures 2-1/8″ long and has a width at the widest end of 5/16″. Stone Measurements – The stone measures just a hair under 1/2″ long by 1/4″ wide and sits on top of the pendant at 1/4 high. Bale Measurements – The bale measures 3/8″ tall by 3/8″ wide, and tapers down before meeting the pendant. The opening of the bale measures just a hair under 1/4 so a thick chain or small beaded necklace could be used. Stamped Sterling – NO, tested and verified. Signed by Artist – NO. Early-Mid to Mid Century, 1940’s+. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with all original parts and pieces and a naturally aged patina, ready to wear or display. Ancient symbol the peyote bird, rich with history and lore. I like this squash blossom necklace! The chip inlay is greenish blue, the sterling has a nice dark patina, the birds are strong and bold, together they look lovely! This necklace is 115 grams, 26 inches long, the birds are 2 1/4 x 1 1/8 inches long and wide. The beads are about 7.5 mm, nice and smooth, strung on a square sterling chain. No hallmarks that I can find. Very much a 1970s look. Native American, probably Navajo. Condition: very good, while it has a lot of patina, the necklace over all is in very good condition. Gorgeous Southwestern Native American Indian green turquoise cluster Sterling silver naja pendant, stamped STERLING and signed R BRD by Navajo artist ROBERT BIRD. This majestic naja pendant showcases 15 phenomenal stones, mainly green, with a single blue one in the center. The stones appear to be from the Royston mine in Nevada. The nicely polished cabochons are set in smooth bezels with silver raindrops in between them, and adorned by beautiful Native American motif stamps all around.
