Native American Turquoise Sterling Silver Concho Belt. Based on the belt’s design and construction, I believe it to be Navajo. While it is hard to detetmine which mine the turquoise originated from, based solely on color and lack of matrix, it could be Bisbee/Kingman but unsure. While not hallmarked, conchos and buckle test 925 sterling. To the best of my knowledge, this belt dates ca. Buckle measures approximately 2″ by 1.5″. Each of the 14 conchos are set on leather with copper backing; each individual concho measures approximately 1.75″ by 1″. Leather belt, best described as a chocolate brown, measures approximately 36 long. Total weight is 7.4 oz or 290 grams. Wear commiserate with age/use; overall, very good pre-owned condition. Piece will be carefully packed (and insured) to ensure a safe journey. Pieces such as this are an investment. Mosaic inlay cuff bracelets CANNOT be adjusted to fit. The cuff measures 5-1/16″ not including a 1-1/4″ opening. It is made of sterling silver. It is well made , beautifully designed but I don’t believe it was Native American made. The frame is 3/4 in width. The mosaic gem channel is 1/2 in width. I see genuine malachite , orange spiny oyster shell and mother of pearl. The turquoise , blue lapis and black onyx in my opinion are man made. This cuff is pre-owned but looks like brand new. This beautiful turquoise and sterling silver concho belt is signed “IN”, of the Navajo tribe. There are a total of 13 conchos, including the buckle. Each concho can be adjusted along the belt as desired, and there is enough room on the leather to customize a waist size. The full length of the belt is approximately 45 inches, and does contain a hole already punched for about a 36 inch waist. There are some light scratches, scuffs, and discolorations along the leather. There is patina on each concho; this can be easily cleaned if desired. The pictures provided will give you a good idea of the dimensions. The belt is not overly heavy and will look great with any outfit. This piece was merchandise in my mother’s now closed business.
