RARE MUSEUM Navajo Turquoise Inlay & Heishi Silver Cuff Bracelet Loloma Student
This listing features a large vintage Navajo cuff bracelet, made of sterling silver, turquoise, and heishi shells. This expertly handcrafted design is a museum quality piece of work. It dates back from the mid too later-mid century (1960s- 1970s) and is in near mint condition. Ive researched the hallmark on the inner shank with no success, however I believe it to be an unknown Navajo Artist who studied under Charles Loloma. One of Lolomas students, Pete Sierra, crafted a cuff almost identical to this one using the same turquoise and raised inlay technique. The only noticeable difference between the two cuffs are that the heishi shells are not present in Sierras piece. More than likely this Artist started to pursue the field of silversmithing but didnt continue with it, thus only making a handful of pieces. Another scenario is that the Artist couldve had an early and untimely death at the beginning of their career. With my experience in the field of Native American Arts, I truly believe this cuff to be crafted by a student of Loloma. We may never know, but it is my professional opinion. I will happily send several photos of the cuff made by Sierra, showing his hallmark, upon request. The face features an incredible mountain of raised flush inlaid turquoise. The individual stones add up to 11 in total and are perfectly flush with one another. They sit raised on the shank at 1/4 high with each end stone tapering down to the shank. Each inlay has a smooth high polished finish and portray rich shades of Caribbean blue along with creamy matrixes. They are some of the most beautiful stones we have ever seen. Truly a site for sore eyes! Deep valleys within the shank border each side of the inlays while being filled with tiny heishi shells. The shells are strung on silver wire wrapping around the cuff from end to end. Theyre in excellent shape with none missing and no chipping. The individual shells can be rotated on the wire making the condition of this piece that much more unbelievable. Following the heishi shells on each side are classic Navajo stampings finishing the design. This superbly made cuff will make a great addition to any collection of fine Native American jewelry. Tangible pieces of this caliber and in this condition are few and far in between. Cherish and enjoy this cuff for now…. And hand it down to a loved one in the future. NOTE: Due to the shank being so thick and wide, the stones being inlaid, and the heishi shells being strung on wire this cuff has no flex and cant be adjusted.. MEASURE YOUR WRIST AND READ THE MEASUREMENTS BEFORE PURCHASING. Weight – 189.5 Grams/6.7 Ounces. Inner Circumference End to End – 6. Gap – 1-1/2 (NOT adjustable). This cuff will fit a 7-1/4 wrist perfectly.. If your wrist is 7-1/2 (the total size of the cuff) then it will be very tight and I dont recommend purchasing. If your wrist is smaller than 7 then it may be too loose. With all that being said, this cuff should work for someone with a wrist size between 7 and 7-3/8. Width of Cuff Measures – 1-3/4. Turquoise Inlay Measurements – There are a total of 11 inlays with a width of just under 3/4 all the way around the cuff face. The largest inlay rests at the front center and has a length of 1. They sit raised on top of the cuff at a height of 1/4 before tapering down at each end. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB INLAY WORK! Signed by Artist – YES, with a single initial A and a Picto Hallmark of 2 arrows directly above the A. Stamped Sterling – NO, tested and verified. Mid too Later-Mid Century, 1960s+. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with all original stones and naturally aged patina, ready to wear or display. I treat every item as if it were my own. Extra bubble wrap and packing materials are used to ensure a safe arrival to its new owner. Please see all 12 photos!! Enlarge them and study them. Ask any questions you may have. Southwestern Native American Indian turquoise row sterling silver cuff bracelet, hallmarked KS and stamped STERLING by the late and renowned Navajo artist KIRK SMITH. RARE Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise Multi Stone Inlay Cuff Bracelet
This listing is for a rare and valuable Navajo handcrafted cuff bracelet, made of sterling silver and multiple gemstone inlays. This desirable cuff bracelet was expertly crafted by the well known and renowned Navajo Artist, Ray Tracey Knifewing. Made with a heavier gauge solid silver, the single shank cuff is strong and sturdy. The entire face of the cuff features flush inlaid gemstones from end to end. The three stones chosen for this piece were turquoise, pink coral, and sugilite…… Pink, purple, and turquoise, a girls dream color combo! Each stone was hand cut into 4 sided rectangles and precisely placed within the cuff face. The turquoise has a pale sky blue hue with some stones having no matrix at all and others having heavy dark spiderwebbed matrixes. The coral has a hazy shade of pinkish orange with subtle matrix lines running throughout. The sugilite has several shades of purple ranging from a light pinkish purple to a dark purple. In total, there are 69 stone inlays, with 28 turquoise, 23 sugilite, and 18 coral. The three colors contrast nicely together creating a soft feminine look. Wafer-thin silver channels are placed throughout the face as well, running North to South. There are a total of 24 silver channels. The silver used to create the cuff is thick and hearty, so there is no give at the gap. Its a very solid well made bracelet weighing in at 71 grams. The ends of the cuff have smooth edges making application to the wrist comfortable and effortless. The Artists signature Picto hallmark along with a sterling stamp resides on the inside of the cuff. A gorgeous piece with an intricate and complex design, great for todays trending bohemian styles and perfect to stack with other cuffs. This bracelet make a wonderful addition to any existing collection of fine Native American jewelry….. Cherish and enjoy this cuff for now…. And hand it down to loved ones in the future. Weight – 71 Grams. Inner circumference end to end – 5-7/8. Gap – 1-1/8 (NOT ADJUSTABLE). Total circumference including gap – 7 (will fit a wrist between 6-1/8 and 6-3/4 comfortably). Width of cuff – 1 wide at the front center and tapers down too 3/8 wide at each end…. The silver is very thick and has a thickness/depth of 5 millimeters! Entire size of inlay section measures – Just over 6-1/2 long and 3/4 wide at the front center. Signed by Artist – YES, with the recognizable picto hallmark of Navajo Artist, Ray Tracey Knifewing. Stamped Sterling – YES, tested and verified. Later mid-century, late 70s – early 80s.
