Vintage Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace 16 Sterling Bench made Beads Navajo

Today, the Navajo tribe creates the most well-known and sought-after Indian jewelry on the market. Their tradition of jewelry making dates back to the 19th century when the Navajos began to work with silver acquired from Spaniards. This is a very old, more than likely pawn necklace. The turquoise is set on a solid foundation of sterling silver. One turquoise stone has a chip on the side, see photo #8. If you start on the right and count to 5, it’s number 4. By the way, the fact that it has a chip tells me that these are natural turquoise stones (stabilized stones do not crack or chip). The necklace itself is bench made sterling beads. The necklace is 16 long and sits comfortably on my collar bone, which is perfect for open blouses. I have not hand polished the necklace, what you are seeing in the photos is the natural patina. If you want it to shine just polish it with a soft polishing cloth – that’s the beauty of sterling silver, it can become dark and be polished back to a beautiful shine time after time. For sale is this BOLD, handmade Navajo necklace! From tip to tip it is 17.25 long and the biggest heishi in the middle reach 13mm. The closing cones and hooks are sterling silver and it is strung in cotton string. The stone heishi are of a beautiful medium Caribbean water hue with tons of caramel matrix throughout. This is in vintage-used condition so please expect very visible signs of wear, including chips, patina, and tarnish. None of the beads are perfect due to the handmade process.
