Southwestern Native American Turquoise Coral Sterling Silver Bead Necklace
Southwestern Native American turquoise coral Sterling silver bead necklace, stamped STERLING. This necklace showcases a main pendant in tandem that measures 3 1/2″ in height by 1 3/16″ in width, and features 2 darker pale blue turquoise stones with dark brown webs. The main top stone is the largest on the necklace, and it’s about 7/8″ tall by 3/4″ wide, bezel to bezel. There are 2 pendants on each side of the main one. All stones are set in smooth bezels wrapped in twisted wire and framed by intricate raised leaves on top and two round corals and silver beads on the bottom. There are two bead sizes on the necklace, the small ones are about 3/16″ and the larger ones are about 1/4″. The necklace is approximately 18 1/2 long from hook to eye (large clasp), and weighs a hefty 136 grams. Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art. Additional notes: Pendant has some old white residue from polish most likely used long ago. All measurements are approximations. Please measure your wrist, decolletage, finger, and waist, or use an old bracelet, necklace, bolo tie, belt, and so on, to determine your size. All items in our store are preowned, and in vintage-used condition. Minor wear, light surface scratches, and other common conditions in used items should be expected. Please allow for some variation in color. We attempt to capture the actual color of the stones/shells to the best of our ability, but cameras, lighting, and monitors may not portray the exact color. We may not always be available on weekends and/or holidays, but we will respond to your message, in the order it was received, when we return to the office. Southwestern Navajo Royston turquoise sterling silver squash blossom necklace, unmarked. This gorgeous necklace showcases 16 high-grade Royston turquoise stones. The 6-stone naja is about 3 1/8″ tall by 2 7/8″ wide, with its larger, center stone measuring 1″ in height by 7/8″ in width, from bezel to bezel. The bead necklace has 10 turquoise stones adorning each of the graduated squash blossoms that range in height from 1 5/8″ – 1 3/8″. All the cabochons are set in smooth bezels wrapped in twisted wire, and framed by a simple, yet elegant filed border. Each 1/4 bench-made bead was individually crafted by soldering the two halves, a very meticulous work, and unfortunately a dying art. The whole necklace has a light to moderate patina, left untouched. This piece weighs a hefty 198.4 grams, and it’s just shy of 27 3/4 from hook to eye. Superb, museum quality necklace, a classic Navajo design crafted with exceptional stones. Thank you for supporting authentic Native American art. Additional notes: The top-center stone has a partial hairline, and the bottom-center stone has a partial line, maybe 1/4 that’s too faint to appear on the photos. All stones remain secure in their bezels. We have added a few pictures taken outdoors to give you a better idea of the color of each stone. They are all very different. Please see all pictures. All measurements are approximations. Please measure your wrist, decolletage, finger, and waist, or use an old bracelet, necklace, bolo tie, belt, and so on, to determine your size. PENDANT Epidote is also a key component of some rocks. Epidosite is rock composed of quartz and epidote. Unakite is altered granite that is composed of epidote, pink orthoclase feldspar and colorless quartz. It is named after the Unakas Mountains of North Carolina in the United States, where it was first discovered. Good quality unakite takes a good polish and is often used to produce cabochons for jewelry or shaped into decorative ornamental gemstone carvings and various objects. The world has had a fascination for turquoise for over 7000 years. The oldest known example of any jewelry was a carved turquoise and gold bracelet found on the mummy of an Egyptian queen. In the American Southwest, Native Americans have mined turquoise since prehistoric times. Many legends surround turquoise, it is believed to bring good fortune and health. While turquoise was once used as currency in the American Southwest, it has been treasured as an adornment throughout the centuries worldwide. The evolution of turquoise jewelry from its appeal as southwestern, Native American or tourist jewelry, to one of the most coveted gems set in designer jewelry worldwide. Coveted, that is, only if you are talking about true, genuine turquoise. And so our turquoise love story continues. While the demand for turquoise has increased dramatically, the supply of genuine turquoise is limited. Turquoise jewelry has been worn for both fashion and cultural significance throughout history. Many American Indian tribes believe the stone harbors mystical powers. According to some beliefs, turquoise can keep bad spirits away and some believe it can ward off bad spirits, encourage communication, creativity and spiritual bonding.
