ALICE PLATERO Navajo Sterling Silver & Amethyst Modernist Ring Size 6.75. Signed “Alice Platero Sterling”. The top is a modernist design of Indian figure wrapped with a blanket with feather on his head. At least that is what it looks like to me! It is 1 9/16 wide on the top. The band is open but stiff. A size 6.75. Band tapers towards the back. Ring weighs 13.7 grams.

Most of the pieces have turquoise that you can’t get anymore because the mines have closed. Also, the red and orange coral is rare because of the coral bleaching which is happening today. Many of these pieces were pawned. The Indian would pawn his jewelry with the shop that would hold it and charge interest until he could relaim it. Dead pawn are the pieces that were never retrieved. This is an Old Navajo Turquoise Sterling Cluster Ring Handmade Size 8 Signed Conjoined DC. This wonderful early fully handcrafted ring features seven plain bezel set turquoise accented with rope twist wire and raindrops. All the stones include matrix. The center stone has two matrix pits. One of the smaller stones also has a matrix pit, and another oval stone has a matrix hairline. The rustic shank is double cold chisel split. There is dark patina/tarnish from age. The turquoise stones do not appear to have been stabilized. The ring is signed with a conjoined DC. Metal: 925 Sterling Silver (unmarked and tested). Measurement: 1 1/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches.
