NAVAJO STERLING SILVER MULTI GEM CUFF WITH GREEN TURQUOISE SIGNED R. Fits 6-1/2 wrist or slightly larger. Width 1/2″ – 3/4″. A truly superb multi gem design- this vintage Navajo bracelet showcases a Royston and lime green turquoise gemstones set in sterling silver with many other gems: garnet, quartz, salmon coral, pearl, carnelian, lapis lazuli, peridot, and aquamarine or blur topaz. Expertly crafted with a bezel setting style and measures approx 6.7 inches in length including the 1-5/8 gap. The sterling is very thick and does not give much. The gap can be adjusted by a jeweler. The bracelet has not been polished and is in its oxidized grey state- it will polish up bright if you desire. An excellent addition to any jewelry collection. This authentic Navajo piece is one of the nicest multi gem cuffs I’ve seen.

Mark Chee – Navajo Turquoise and Sterling Silver Bracelet. Believed to be circa 1950’s. Heavy turquoise silver bracelet weighs approximately 5 ounces, 2 inches inside diameter with 1 3/4 inches at the opening. Inside circumference is approximately 5 inches and the outside circumference is approximately 6 3/4 inches. This is a mid 20th century Navajo ingot silver bracelet set with seven Turquoise cabochons by master silver smith Mark Chee. The unusually thick and heavy silver cuff is a signature style of Chee’s work. Vintage item which has been previously worn. Mark Chee was a Navajo (Diné) silversmith that was born in 1914 and died in 1981. His hallmark is Chee inside of a bird figure.

The Navajos began working with silver in the 19th century, and began making things like buckles, bridles, buttons, rings, canteens, hollow beads, earrings, crescent-shaped pendants (called “najas”), bracelets, crosses, powder chargers, tobacco canteens, and conchos (for belts). Their silversmithing skills has evolved and changed throughout the years, and in about 1880 Navajo silversmiths started to set turquoise in their silver work. Traditionally, Navajo artists worked with jewelry techniques like repousee and stamp work, but today they explored in other Native American jewelry making techniques like Zuni inlay work and Hopi overlay work.
