Being offered is a vintage, Navajo Indian crafted jewelry necklace. The necklace is crafted of sterling silver with the older hand made bench beads. This is a tedious process but each bead is hand crafted with 2 halves being pounded on a bench and then fused together. There are 3 pendants attached, all with a shadow box design with a Kingman turquoise stone setting. The middle pendant is signed, sterling for sterling silver, and the artisan silversmith hallmark, which is a shamrock with the initials TG on the inside, which is for Teddy Goodluck. The middle pendant is approx. 1 1/8″ by 7/8″. The pendants are intact and good condition. The entire necklace is in good condition and approx. The necklace and pendants weigh approx. Today, the Navajo tribe creates the most well-known and sought-after Indian jewelry on the market. Their tradition of jewelry making dates back to the 19th century when the Navajos began to work with silver acquired from Spaniards. This is a very old, more than likely pawn necklace. The turquoise is set on a solid foundation of sterling silver. One turquoise stone has a chip on the side, see photo #8. If you start on the right and count to 5, it’s number 4. By the way, the fact that it has a chip tells me that these are natural turquoise stones (stabilized stones do not crack or chip). The necklace itself is bench made sterling beads. The necklace is 16 long and sits comfortably on my collar bone, which is perfect for open blouses. I have not hand polished the necklace, what you are seeing in the photos is the natural patina. If you want it to shine just polish it with a soft polishing cloth – that’s the beauty of sterling silver, it can become dark and be polished back to a beautiful shine time after time.
