Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Bisbee Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace Unique
Hand-made with the finest Bisbee Turquoise and Sterling Silver, this necklace will be a treasured work of Art for its new owner for years to come. This piece was hand-made by Navajo Artist, Robert Haley. This isnt your average everyday Squash Blossom Necklace. Its design and shape is unique, setting it apart from others. Its also very well made with heavy gauge sterling silver and some of the most beautiful Bisbee Turquoise available on the market. The stones are all original and in MINT condition as they sit inside saw tooth bezels. All of the 18 stones used in this necklace are different and unique in their own way with some having more of the desired black matrix than others. The blue color of the stones are bold and vividly stunning… I honestly cant say enough about them. The Naja is what sets this necklace apart from others. Its unique design and shape is not as common in other pieces. Each tip of the Naja holds a perfectly rounded stone that protrudes from its setting. 4 larger stones are symmetrically set near the top of the Naja over an unusual shaped bed of silver. Haley applied hand stampings, classic Navajo leaf appliqués, and silver raindrops with sunburst stamps to accompany the stones. The 12 squash blossoms are just as beautiful and coincide perfectly with the Naja. Each blossom consists of one stone surrounded by thick silver works of hand stampings and raindrops with sunbursts. Haley also constructed his blossoms with 4 petals instead of the typical 3 petal blossom, also setting this piece apart from the rest. The stones used in the blossoms near the Naja are the largest and graduate to smaller stones as they go up towards the clasp. It just so happens that the stones closest to the clasp are the same size and shape as the stones used at the tips of the Naja. Small details like this truly make a difference when looking at the piece as a whole. Haleys work is impeccable and it shows. The hand-made bench beads are in great condition with no dents and are strung on a thick and sturdy chain. This necklace is somewhat heavy and Begay made sure to use a strong chain to support it. The hook and eye clasp is also of higher quality. This item has not been cleaned or polished. It has been left in its original state. One of the best attributes of this necklace is its size…. Its large enough to make a bold statement yet, not overly sized to where its gaudy and uncomfortable to wear around the neck…. Its the perfect size and weight for actual wear. This work of Art by Haley is a masterpiece, one that will last for years and be handed down for generations. Be the new owner of this stunning piece, cherish and enjoy it for now…. Hand it down to loved ones in the future. I will entertain reasonable offers…. Lets make a deal! Weight – 179 Grams / 6.3 oz. Length from end to end – 26.5 (30 including Naja). Hand Made Bench Beads – 3/8 diameter. Naja – 3 Tall x 2-7/8 Wide. 12 Squash Blossoms – Starting by the Naja at 1-1/2 Long x 5/8 Wide and graduating smaller to the top at 1-1/4 Long x 7/16 Wide. Largest Stones (first stones above Naja) – 7/16 Long x 3/8 Wide. Smallest Stones (each tip of Naja) – 5/16 Long x 3/16 Wide. Stamped Sterling – NO, tested and verified. Signed by Artist – YES, Robert Haley, NAVAJO. Condition – Preowned, in excellent vintage condition with all original stones and patina, ready to wear or display. I treat every item as if it were my own. Extra bubble wrap and packing materials are used to ensure a safe arrival to its new owner. Please see all 12 photos!! Enlarge them and study them. Ask any questions you may have. Im always here to help and I respond quickly and nicely. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING AUTHENTIC NATIVE AMERICAN JEWELRY! Massive Old Navajo Bisbee Turquoise Sterling Silver Cuff Bracelet 122 Gr Signed
Massive Old Native American Sterling Turquoise Cuff Signed. I BELIEVE THIS MASSIVE BRACELET IS A VERY OLD PIECE. I BOUGHT IT YEARS AGO WHEN I FIRST STARTED COLLECTING BECAUSE I LOVED THE STONES – BUT IT IS MUCH TOO BIG FOR ME TO WEAR. THE CUFF MEASURES 2 3/4 WIDE, AND WEIGHS A SUBSTANTIAL 122 GRAMS! THERE ARE 5 BIG NATURAL LOOKING TURQUOISE – WHICH I WAS TOLD WERE BISBEE TURQUOISE. THEY RANGE IN COLOR FROM GREEN TO SKY BLUE – WITH THAT CHOCOLATE MATRIX. TO ME THE STONES LOOK DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER. I TOOK PICTURES OF THEM SO EXPERTS OUT THERE COULD DETERMINE WHAT THEY ARE. THE SMALLEST STONES AT THE ENDS MEASURE APPROX 1″ BY 1″ – THE LARGEST STONE IS APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2″ BY 1 1/4″. THE STONES ARE HARD TO MEASURE BECAUSE THEY ARE NUGGET LIKE. EACH STONE IS SET INTO THE CUFF – AND THE SILVER IS OXIDIZED, PROVIDING CONTRAST. THERE ARE LARGE TEARDROPS FOR ADDED DECORATION, AND HAND STAMPING AROUND THE CURVES OF THE INSET AND ENDS. THE INSIDE MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 6 FROM TIP TO TIP – WITH AN ALMOST TWO INCH GAP. THIS CUFF IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. INSIDE IT IS MARKED N. WITH BEAR PAWS AT EACH END OF THE SIGNATURE. THERE IS A SCRIPTED NAME OF JACK O NEILL, AND THE NUMBERS 62544. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THOSE STAND FOR. THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL CUFF – AND I HOPE IT GOES TO A GOOD HOME. The item “MASSIVE OLD NAVAJO BISBEE TURQUOISE STERLING SILVER CUFF BRACELET 122 GR SIGNED” is in sale since Monday, September 9, 2019. Carlos White Eagle Native American Bisbee Turquoise Sterling Silver Bracelet
This magnificent bracelet is from legendary Native American artist Carlos White Eagle. This bracelet is really all about this gorgeous turquoise stone. It is hard to describe the beauty of this marvelous large Bisbee Turquoise. The gem is deep, brilliant blue with red-chocolate brown matrix. Carlos White Eagle is a master jeweler. He began making jewelry in the early 1940’s and worked with some the beast silversmiths of his time. He went on to bring the jewelry of its time to the rich and famous, from the Roosevelt to President Eisenhower to Elvis Presley and Cher. Carlos White Eagle was known for bold original designs, fine materials and excellent craftsmanship. Inner circumference of bracelet: 5 1/4 Gap opening: 1 1/4. Fully inner circumference of bracelet gap size included: 6 1/2. The bracelet is 2 1/8 tall. The turquoise stone measures approx. 1 1/2″ by 1 1/4″. Signed by artist on the back. There is no purity mark, however it has been tested positive for sterling silver. The condition is excellent with vintage patina! How to Make Sure Your Bracelet Will Fit. The best way to get a good fit is to measure a cuff bracelet you already have that fits you well and look for a bracelet with those dimensions. If you don’t have a cuff bracelet to use for comparison, then measure your wrist where you want to wear the bracelet. Use a half inch wide strip of paper and wrap it around your wrist. Be sure that it completes its circumference over your wrist bone and is in comfortable contact with your skin the whole way around. Mark the paper where it begins to overlap with the start, lay it out flat, and measure from the start to the mark. This is your proper wrist circumference. Your satisfaction is our priority. A classic squash blossom necklace featuring ten blossoms and a large naja set with top grade GEM Grade Arizona Bisbee TURQUOISE. This Old Pawn Squash Blossom necklace displays gorgeous, free-form, ARIZONA stones. These gems of the southwest exhibit lovely color with a bit of matrix. Old Pawn Squash Blossom Necklace Set. Add this stunning necklace to your jewelry collection for a traditional touch of Native American style from the 1950s! It starts as a typical squash blossom necklace with the double strands of handmade bench beads. On the strand there are 10 shadowbox pieces that feature a High Grade Bisbee Turquoise Nugget in the center and the actual blossoms at the ends. The Naja in the center of the necklace has the same shadowbox design with the Amazing Turquoise nuggets following the curve of the Naja itself. It is in Excellent Vintage condition with minor scuffing and scratching due to previous use and age, and a light patina. Weight: 135.3 g. Naja: 2.53 in by 2.56 in. Squash Blossoms: 1.45 in by. Stone: High Grade Arizona Bisbee Nugget. Hallmark: RY (We could not find anything about this hallmark). The Squash Blossom Necklace. The Navajo word for the squash blossom bead means bead that spreads out so it would seem to me that the original intent was design not squash. But what do I know, I wasnt around in 1880 when spread beads first appeared. In about 1880, the tri-petal form that we know as a squash blossom bead appeared. At first, tri-petal silver beads were simply interspersed with plain beads in a naja necklace. Then stones began to be added to the blossom beads partly to please the maker but mostly to satisfy customer demand. Squash, corn and beans are important foods for the Native American people of the US southwest. They are often used in a symbolic way in jewelry and ceremonies. Some say the Navajo squash blossom necklace has a connection to southwestern agriculture, other say the the spread petal design is just that, a design, and that is was only after white man asked, what is this, what does it mean did the name squash blossom come to be. Yet others say the Navajo copied a similar Spanish design of the pomegranate. The Naja has its origin with the Moors in Spain. It is a good luck charm to ward off the evil eye. It was often used on the browband of Moorish Horses. It is thought that it came to Mexico via the Spanish Moors and from there was adopted by the Navajo Indians. The naja is the base pendant of many ornate squash blossom necklaces. Bisbee Turquoise is one of the most beautiful types of Turquoise that has ever been taken out of the ground in North America. Its striking true blue color ranges are spectacular and the chocolate matrix that the Turquoise is found in, extenuates its beauty. Bisbee Turquoise is some of the finest Arizona Turquoise and there is no Turquoise on earth that is comparable to Bisbee Turquoise, as it has its own unusual characteristics that are unique only to itself. The Bisbee Mine was originally founded in the mid 1870’s and by 1975 when it was closed had become the largest and richest mine the world has ever known. Taking out over 8,000,000,000 pounds of copper the mine was given the name “The Copper Queen”. The Bisbee Mine also produced nearly 3,000,000 ounces of Gold, 77,000,000 ounces of Silver and billions of pounds of lead and zinc! The Bisbee Mine also produced a variety of outstanding minerals including Malichite, Azurite and of course Turquoise that are by products of the metals and minerals that are native to this Mine. However, mining at Bisbee did not include mining for gemstones, any Turquoise or other gemstone materials were discarded by the mining companies and prohibited to be taken out by the minors due to liability reasons. In the late 1950’s, a deposit of Turquoise was found in the Lavendar Pit region of the Bisbee Mine. Most of this Turquoise was hauled off to an area where they dumped their waste and over burdens from the mining project. Individual Minors recognized the beauty of the Bisbee Turquoise and would sneak small amounts of the Turquoise out in their lunch boxes and/or whatever other means they could muster. It was not long after Bisbee Turquoise was discovered in the Mine that it was introduced to the Southwestern Jewelry Industry. By the early 1960’s, Bisbee Turquoise had become the finest Turquoise the market had ever seen and demand for it went through the roof. In 1972, the one and only lease ever given to work the dumps from the Lavendar Pitt was awarded to Mr. Robert Matthews of Durango, Colorado. Bob and his associates worked the dumps hard for approximately two years to recover less than 2,000 pounds of good to excellent quality Bisbee Turquoise. Due to mining restrictions and the cost of recovering the Bisbee Turquoise from the dumps, mining slowed down and ended by 1980. Only small amounts of Bisbee Turquoise have surfaced since and this has been from Mine Robbers that sneak into the guarded Mine late at night to hunt for bits and pieces of this fine mineral, Bisbee Turquoise! There is very little True Bisbee Turquoise available today and due to its rarity and exceptional beauty it is very valuable, and Bisbee Turquoise remains nearly as rare as hens teeth!
