Old Southwestern Navajo turquoise sterling silver squash blossom necklace, unmarked. This gorgeous necklace showcases 17 high-grade rich blue turquoise stones. The 7-stone naja is about 2 1/2″ tall by 2 7/8″ wide, with its larger, center stone measuring 3/4″ x 5/8″, from bezel to bezel. The bead necklace has 10 turquoise stones adorning each of the squash blossoms in graduated style, ranging from 1 1/2″ to 1 1/4″ in height. The largest blossom stone is about 13/16″ x 5/8″, bezel to bezel. All the cabochons are set in smooth bezels wrapped in twisted wire. Each 5/16 bench-made bead was individually crafted by soldering the two halves of the round bead together, a very meticulous work, and unfortunately a dying art. The whole necklace has a very dark patina (left untouched). This piece weighs a hefty 127.5 grams, and measures about 22 1/4 from hook to eye. Superb stones and silver work, classic Navajo design.
